Opening screen
Choose to continue working on a previous room, upload new photos of a room, go through a gallery of rooms designed by other users, or begin anew with a template.
Step 1- Paint
Choose your paint color! There are many options of colors and brands that are in partnership with Beautyrest.
Step 2- Modify
Switch up the details of your bed! For this screen, the view will zoom into the bed area so the user can properly see all details.
Another option under Modify Your Bed.
When the user selects an object, a box will appear around the item in the menu. The object will also be placed in the room with an outline to indicate that it is actively selected. The user can move the object around the room by clicking and dragging.
If the object selected is double clicked, a new box will appear with details about the item. From here, you can access your cart.
Step 3- Cart
All items used in your new set up are included here. The details about brand, price, and ability to change quanities are located on this screen. The user may also choose to locate a Beautyrest store in order to purchase items, if preferred.
Step 4- Find your local store
Enter your zipcode and find the closest store!
Step 5- Save
Once you have completed your designs, the user may save their room and name it accordingly. This will then be uploaded into Existing Rooms, where others can view the finished design. This room can also be modified later on.
Another Option - Templates
If a user decides to choose a template on the opening screen, the room will have the basics set up according to the theme, and the options will filter down to match.
One third of a persons' life is spent in bed. When looking to buy new bedding, it is a careful, considered purchase. As expensive as bedding is, a person is more likely to purchase items if they are able to visual them being in their home. A design tool is a perfect solution to being able to find the perfect custom bedroom suited to every individual's tastes.

Process
1/3 of a person's life is spent in bed
1. Create a design tool to allow users to set up a bedroom using Beautyrest products and partners for designing walls, floors, etc.
2. Easy to use
3. Allow users to purchase items used
4. Locate a nearby store
It is important to find a balance between the content the user can browse through and the room itself. I wanted to make the content as unobtrusive as possible. To do this, the controls and content are separated out and take up as little space as possible. This way, the user can get the most view of their designed room.
Final Thoughts
These designs were made with minimalism in mind. From the other design tools I found, everything seemed to be too cluttered and the view of the room was small. The semi-transparent boxes allow for the user to get an idea of the room as a whole, and the boxes are intended to be out of the user's way.
After seeing many other design tools, I think this solution is effective and non-intrusive. In other words, the tools are clear and do not take away from the view of the room. I would make some adjustments in the future, such as the template page, where I would iterate more to find a more fitting design.
